The thing about a salary is that you'll have to pay it even when the company does bad which somehow counters the idea of sharing in the success of the company. If I had all the skills required to work for Percona I'm pretty sure I'd do good on my own as well and only use Percona as multiplicator for my own business so I might as well share alike in the losses (if there are any). And even if you as an employer raise the question it can be construed as cheaping out on your employees' benefits. I do not want a third commercial party between me and my doctor or a hospital. Remember, here in US insurance company decides what is good for you - not your doctor. The less procedures/treatments insurance company approves the bigger their profit. Btw, have you ever tried to get health insurance directly not from employer? When you have precondition? I'm sure it's just a question of minimizing liability for the Daycare Center. I agree with you, in the unlikely event of an evacuation, they would be fine for a short while without shoes. If they put that money to fight environmental (cancer due to pollution and other shits) and social (junk food) causes of people need to see a doctor, Health will not be anymore as attractive to insurance industries.
